March for Life
Washington, DC
Wednesday, January 22, 2014
ABVM Parish will be making the trip to Washington, DC to take part in the 41st Annual March for Life protesting abortion. Each year hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers peacefully gather and march down Constitution Avenue commemorating the U.S. Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion.
We welcome students from all grades and their parents are invited to join the day of prayer. Assumption B.V.M. students attending must provide written permission from their parents stating that the student is participating in the March for Life. The letter must also include the name of the adult responsible for each student in order to receive an excused absence. This letter is due to the principal's office by Friday, January 17th.
There will be two buses going from Assumption BVM Parish leaving at different times from the ABVM parish upper lot near the playground. One bus will leave Assumption at 6:45 am and will arrive at the National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception to celebrate the 10 am Mass. The other bus will leave Assumption at 8:00 am, meet up with the first bus, and bring passengers to the Archdiocesan meeting point for the March for Life. We will arrive back at our parish at approximately 7 pm. Sign-up sheets will be available after the weekend Masses in the vestibule of the Church or email abvmforlife@hotmail.comor call Mary at 610.255.3828.
If you are interested in supplying a light snack for those on the bus or are willing to contribute to defray the cost of the bus, please contact Ann at 610.869.7758 by Friday, January 17th.
